Carlton's in Clemmons (4440 Hampton Rd)

This is becoming a place to stop. Found out they have a small sandwich shop for breakfast and lunch.

Great little store. Friendly employees.

Overall a great little store. Has the small town local feel to it. They serve breakfast and lunch but I believe they close the kitchen down at 2. They also sell the homemade goods in a cooler at the back of the store and you can take home whole chicken pies and other things. Everyone is friendly and gas is fairly priced. Very clean and well maintained bathroom accessed from around the back of the building in the outside. Always stocked with everything you need. Only complaint is they close early and at that point you can't get gas until reopen the next day.

Carlton’s is a throwback to a time when things were much simpler and people, at least, behaved as if they were pleased to see you, and your path crossing with theirs was a “good” thing. It’s a nice experience waiting to happen, if you’re not someone whose ego, entitlement, or arrogance won’t allow that moment to happen. No offense, but I’ve got too many years and too much life experience to allow the current societal climate to pass without commenting honestly. If you care to dispute, leave your own review. So, for the sake of argument, please, put down your phone, just for a sec, and be friendly back. Back to Carlton’s. Simply put: Good country folks and pleasant experience. Decent fuel prices, although it’s a mom and pop so don’t expect Costco volume discount pricing. I saved the best for last - they have the best homemade Moravian Chicken Pies I’ve ever snuck past my gullet!
