BOSTON (Nov 17, 2016) – GasBuddy, the technology company changing the way consumers find, purchase and save money on gasoline, today announced two new additions to the company’s executive team coming at the heel of a year of stellar growth. Sarah McCrary joins the company as vice president of operations to focus on operational strategy that will drive further innovation in GasBuddy. Michael DiLorenzo joins as vice president of marketing and will lead the growth strategy of GasBuddy’s dynamic community of users.
“Mike and Sarah are incredible additions to our strong leadership team,” said Walt Doyle, CEO of GasBuddy. “This year we have surpassed 60 million downloads, successfully rebranded and redesigned our app, and launched our SaaS product, GasBuddy Business Pages. By adding the expertise that Mike and Sarah bring, it will help ensure that we have the right structure and plan in place to continue to take our products and company to the next level.”
McCrary joins GasBuddy after more than a decade of business and product leadership in the payments technology arena. Most recently, McCrary was the vice president of digital strategy at Heartland Payment Systems, one of the nation’s largest payment companies, recently acquired by Global Payments.
While at Heartland Payment Systems, she was appointed chief executive officer of Heartland acquisition, Leaf, the creator of a mobile point-of sale-tablet; served Heartland’s chief executive officer and executive committee as director of strategy; and led product development of the company’s end-to-end encryption technology, Heartland Secure E3™; of which she is a coinventor.
DiLorenzo will lead GasBuddy’s marketing team. As the former senior vice president of marketing at Drizly, he helped the company seize first-mover advantage attacking a $100 billion opportunity for on-demand, e-commerce in off-premise retail beverage alcohol sales. Prior to Drizly, DiLorenzo was a vice president of marketing and audience development at online retailer Rue La La, a leading e-commerce destination connecting world-class brands with the next-generation shopper, where he helped re-invent consumer acquisition by utilizing content marketing, social media marketing platforms, demand-side advertising and new technologies.
Before joining Rue La La, he spent five seasons as a senior director at the National Hockey League where he ran corporate communications, and formed the League’s social media marketing and strategy department. DiLorenzo established the NHL's presence on Twitter and Facebook, growing both into substantial sources of incremental revenue from partnership marketing and direct-toconsumer products, and a key device for driving tune-in and downloads.
GasBuddy has recently moved to a larger office on Washington Street in the North End to support the growing Boston team.
