BOSTON (May 25, 2016) - GasBuddy, the largest community-based gas price comparison app, today announced recent additions to its leadership team to drive the company's growth plans.
Max Metral has been named GasBuddy's new chief technology officer, a role that will focus on leading the engineering team and shaping the technology agenda across the company. Metral was most recently the chief engineer of PayPal Retail and brings over 20 years of consumer technology experience to GasBuddy.

"Max demonstrates a track record of being a highly successful CTO that can build pretty much anything. His hands-on experience made him the perfect person to step into this important role on our management team. We're excited to have such a seasoned veteran who is eager to help scale a fast growing business like ours."
Over his career, Metral has lead three companies to acquisitions and an IPO. He was the CEO and co-founder of Fig Card, which was acquired by PayPal in April 2011. Prior to founding Fig, Metral was co-founder and CTO of Firefly, which was sold to Microsoft. There he went on to architect the sign-on system Microsoft Passport. Metral was also the founder of PeoplePC, which was sold to Earthlink.
Bob Breznak and Jean-Charles Sisk join Metral in leading the technology organization. Breznak was the vice president of engineering at Soofa and EverTrue, and served as a software engineer at Where Inc. Sisk was an application engineer architect at PayPal, where he played a key role in moving large parts of the organization to node.js. He is a maintainer of several high profile open source projects and an international speaker on web technologies and the importance of adopting an open source culture through inner-sourcing.
GasBuddy is continuing to expand. There are 22 new job openings across engineering, marketing, and sales in Boston, New York, San Diego and Canada.
